    Kristie Prinz is a Silicon Valley SaaS lawyer with more than 20 years of experience and the founder of the SaaS, technology & life sciences business law firm, The Prinz Law Office, which is based in Silicon Valley, California, with offices in San Jose, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego.  Her practice focuses on providing legal guidance to start-ups and mid-market, privately held companies in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout California and in developing tech hubs across the United States around the world.  Kristie’s clients are generally SaaS, technology, health technology, and life sciences companies that recognize the need for the technical expertise of an experienced business lawyer who really understands technology and intellectual property.  Her representation often involves advising clients on how to negotiate, revise, and draft contracts that accurately reflect complex IP, technical and business terms, so that they can close their deals faster and avoid disputes. In addition to her experience in working with SaaS, technology, health technology, and life sciences, she has also developed specialized technical IP business law expertise in the niche fields of tech and IP licensing (including patent, content & data licensing), software licensing, IT and HaaS, Internet law, copyright law, and trademark law.

    Kristie currently serves on the San Jose II Chapter of ProVisors, including the Silicon Valley Mergers & Acquisitions Affinity Group, the Silicon Valley Lawyers Affinity Group, & the East Bay Lawyers Affinity Group,  the Health and Information Technology Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Business Management Committee of VC Taskforce.

    Her prior service includes the Executive Committee of the High Tech Section of the Santa Clara Bar Association (“SCCBA”); the Advisory Board of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (“LES”); the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (“NAWBO”); the chair of the Programs and VoIP Committees of the Science and Technology Section of the American Bar Association (“ABA”); the Cyberspace Committee of the California Bar Association Business Section; chair of the Copyright Committee of the ABA Intellectual Property Section; the U.S. Copyright Law and Corporate IP Management Committees of the Intellectual Property Owners Association (“IPO”);  and the Planning Committee of Astia’s Life Sciences and Entrepreneur Venture Catalyst Program.

    Kristie is a frequent speaker on SaaS & technology contracts, software and intellectual property agreement drafting and negotiation, Internet legal issues, and start-up and entrepreneurship issues.  She is also the author of three blogs: the Silicon Valley Software Law Blog, the Silicon Valley IP Licensing Law Blog, and the California Biotech Law Blog.

    Prior to launching The Prinz Law Office, Kristie was a member of the licensing and biotech transactions group of the Palo Alto office of the New York-based intellectual property law firm of Pennie & Edmonds, LLP, which had four offices and more than 200 attorneys.

    Kristie is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville, Tennessee, and of Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina.  She is licensed to practice law in the states of California and Georgia.
